Blue Note Revisited
(Blue Note – 2004)
by Sidney Bechet-Mandela

Byrd, Gene Harris, Horace Silver are re-mixed in a variety of ways, sometimes with great effect, then some so subtle, it’s hard to hear exactly what is different.
The most ingenious mix is on the Eddie Henderson track, Kudu which was written by keyboard legend Patrice Rushen and issued on the late 70’s Henderson album, Heritage. Pardon the pun, but kudos to the Kyorto Jazz Massive who does the honors on this tracks and vocalist Vanessa Freeman who sings on a number of the tracks.
