 Tim Collins – FadeRopeadope Digital – 2008 Sounds of Timeless Jazz Vibraphonist Tim Collins is joined by Charlie Hunter on bass, Simon Lott on drums, a dynamic string ensemble, and others on this stellar follow-up to his first CD titled VALCOUR. This debut for Ropeadope Digital features exciting sound effects – ring modulators, distortion, delay, pitch bending, bowing – not commonly used by vibraphonists.
The result is an innovative offering that sets Collins apart from his contemporaries and allows the listener to explore new ways to enjoy the vibraphone. FADE also reflects Tim Collins’ love for Milt Jackson, The Police and Bjork! Collins also expands his sound by employing a string ensemble to enhance his sound on the title track and on “Lake George 1983.”
