Christian\u2019s band consists of guitarist Matthew Stevens, drummer Jamire Williams, bassist Kris Funn and pianist Lawrence Fields. Christian also recruited guests; tenor saxophonist Kenneth Whalum III, alto saxophonist Louis Fouche IIII, and trombonist Corey King.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cFatima Aisha Rokero 400,\u201d opens Disc One, where the trumpeter boldly soars over Stevens\u2019 guitar and eerie muses. \u201cNew New Orleans (King Adjuah Stomp),\u201d is a rhythmic bouncer about the resilience of post-Katrina New Orleans. He shines on his quiet, muted-trumpet as they perform \u00a0\u201cWho They Wish I Was\u201d about how people have equated his band with the classic Miles Davis Quintet of the \u201860s; the pounding \u201cPyrrhic Victory of aTunde Adjuah\u201d is about the negative reactions of people to Scott\u2019s name completion; while \u00a0&#8220;Kiel,&#8221; is a reflective musical portrait of Christian\u2019s twin brother.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The second disc includes the catchy melody, guitar-growled, hopeful \u201cThe Berlin Patient (CCR5)\u201d; the snappy-drum patterned \u201cWhen Marissa Stands Her Ground\u201d; the melodic tune \u201cLiar Liar\u201d; and the ballad \u201cI Do\u201d that Christian wrote to celebrate his engagement. \u201cCara\u201d ends the album with its romantic beauty that spotlights his breathy trumpet lines over Fields\u2019 rich piano comping.
