The CD itself is not bad, but <i>Giant Steps<\/i> stood out from the rest. I&#8217;d bet that it has always been one of Larry&#8217;s favorite songs, because the interpretation is filled with a level of emotion that&#8217;s reached nowhere else on the album. It&#8217;s not easy to cover <i>Coltrane<\/i> well, but the band came together this day and Larry was smoking! Bassist <i>Rusty Holloway<\/i> should be given a nod for some fine work on this tune as well.<\/p>\n<p>The 8th track, <i>Over the Rainbow<\/i> is sweetly done as well thanks to <i>Donald Brown&#8217;s<\/i> very nice, very complimentary piano. The CD also features <i>Chris Gray<\/i> on percussion and <i>Tom Johnson<\/i> on sax.
