Over three decades after he broke out of the Portland scene as leader of the pioneering Jeff Lorber Fusion<\/em>, the ‘godfather of smooth’ maintains that soulful momentum on his new release Heard That.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joined by one of urban jazz’s top hit makers and sonic architects, Rex Rideout<\/strong>, the two\u00a0meld their smooth-jazz talents (and minds) to\u00a0spit out some truly grooving pop, jazz, R&B and blues-influenced tracks. There’s even a little flavor of the early Fusion releases! <\/p>\n

Highlighted by the first track, a swinging, bluesy-brass twist on Amy Winehouse’s Grammy winning “Rehab,” Heard That <\/em>features a typically vibrant Lorber all-star guest list, including trumpet great Rick Braun<\/strong>, guitarist Paul Jackson Jr<\/strong>., saxman Gary Meek<\/strong>, bassist Alex Al<\/strong>, trumpeter Ron King<\/strong>, guitarist Darrell Crooks <\/strong>and Peak label mate and sax icon Gerald Albright<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lorber has been touring throughout 2008 as part of ‘Guitars & Saxes’ with the likes of Gerald Albright, Jessy J, Jeff Golub and Peter White.<\/p>\n
