Watkins, Sr.<\/p>\n<p><\/font>  <font size=\"2\" style=\"font-face:verdana; font-size:13px\" face=\"Verdana, Helvetica\" color=\"#000000\">  We first heard Georgia-born songbird <strong>Lizz Wright<\/strong> singing jazz on the Joe Sample release <a href=\"thepecantree.asp\">The Pecan Tree<\/a>, then again on her acclaimed debut <a href=\"Salt.asp\">Salt<\/a> which brought her comparisons to another newcomer jazz diva, <em>Norah Jones.<\/em>. In an amazing departure from her past and what you&#8217;d expect to get, on <strong>Dreaming Wide Awake<\/strong> singer and songwriter Wright serves up a dish that is not necessarily a <em>jazz CD<\/em>&#8230; but definitions may collide here.   <\/p>\n<table align=\"right\" bgcolor=\"brown\" cellspacing=\"1\" cellpadding=\"3\">\n<tr>\n<td nowrap=\"\" align=\"center\"><font color=\"white\" style=\"font-size:11px\">Listen To<br \/><strong>A Taste Of Honey<\/strong><\/font><br \/><!-- Real media embedding code --><!-- This object\/embed pair contains the playback information --><object id=\"RVOCX\" classid=\"clsid:CFCDAA03-8BE4-11CF-B84B-0020AFBBCCFA\" width=\"110\" height=\"36\"><param name=\"controls\" value=\"ControlPanel\"\/><param name=\"console\" value=\"audio\"\/><embed src=\"audio\/atasteofhoney.rm?embed\" type=\"audio\/x-pn-realaudio-plugin\" controls=\"ControlPanel\" width=\"110\" height=\"20\" nojava=\"true\" console=\"audio\"\/><\/object> <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>  From the stark, acoustic opening cover of <em>A Taste of Honey<\/em> to the equally smooth yet blues-laced <em>Without You<\/em> the focus throughout this CD is Wrights&#8217; solid vocals and creativity. On this unique and diverse release Lizz covers tracks by <strong>Neil Young, Fats Waller, The Beatles, Madonna and Herb Alpert&#8217;s Tijuana Brass <\/strong> and makes them as much her own as the original tracks that appear here.  <\/p>\n<p>  This CD was NOT what I was expecting, but it has it&#8217;s own groove and is definitely worth a listen. It&#8217;s NOT SALT, but I don&#8217;t really think you can compare them&#8230; like apples and eggs I&#8217;d say.
