{"id":3812,"date":"2014-01-01T22:21:10","date_gmt":"2014-01-01T22:21:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jazzusa.com\/american-drummers-achievement-awards\/"},"modified":"2011-01-01T22:21:10","modified_gmt":"2011-01-01T22:21:10","slug":"american-drummers-achievement-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jazzusa.com\/?p=3812","title":{"rendered":"American Drummers Achievement Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-face:verdana; font-size:14pt\"><u>    <\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"\/><\/u><\/font><strong><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"1\" style=\"font-face:verdana; font-size:8pt\">bill Cosby to Host the  First Zildjian<\/font><\/strong><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-face:verdana; font-size:14pt\" face=\"Verdana\"><br \/><\/font><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"3\" color=\"#0000FF\"><strong>American Drummers Achievement  Awards\u0099 <\/strong><br \/><\/font><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"1\" style=\"font-face:verdana; font-size:8pt\">benefit to raise scholarship funds for young musicians.<\/font><font size=\"4\">  <\/font><font size=\"2\" style=\"font-face:verdana; font-size:10pt\">    <\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\">The Avedis Zildjian Company will honor four legendary jazz drummers  while raising scholarship funds for young musicians on Sunday, September 13 at 7:30 p.m.  at Berklee Performance Center during the <i>American Drummers Achievement Awards. <\/i>The  event, which celebrates the 375th Anniversary of the Norwell, MA-based Avedis Zildjian  Company, will be hosted by <b>Bill Colby <\/b>and will honor drummers: <b>Louis Bellson,  Roy Haynes, Elvin Jones and Max Roach.<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n<p><\/font>    <\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\" style=\"font-face:verdana; font-size:10pt\">Four world-renowned drummers will perform live tributes to  the honorees at the Awards. Featured artists include <b>Terri Lyne Carrington <\/b>in  tribute to Roy Haynes, <b>Peter Erskine <\/b>in tribute to Elvin Jones, <b>Steve Gadd <\/b>in  tribute to Louis Bellson, and Marvin &#8220;Smitty&#8221; Smith in tribute to Max Roach.  They will be performing with an all-star Berklee College of Music Ensemble led by musical  director Gary Burton, along with special guest artists.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\" style=\"font-face:verdana; font-size:10pt\">Film and testimonial appreciations summarizing the careers  and contributions of each honored drumming legend will also be part of the tribute, which  will be held at the 1,200-seat Berklee Performance Center at Berklee College of Music, 132  Massachusetts Avenue, Boston. Berklee is the world&#8217;s premier school for jazz and  contemporary music.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\" style=\"font-face:verdana; font-size:10pt\">Tickets are $30 and $20, with student discounts available.  $200 Golden Circle tickets include a pre-concert reception, priority seating and a  limited-edition copy of a new book on the history of the Zildjian Company.
