Marcus Johnson – Poetically Justified
![]() Poetically Justified Three Keys – 2009 Ray Redmond Hang on folks… some say that smooth jazz may be ailing, but Marcus Johnson‘s new release Poetically Justified definitely gives it a hearty shot in the arm. The release showcases several guest appearances from some of Johnson’s musician friends including vocalist Miles Jaye, who lends his soulful voice to “Capice” and “Heaven”. R&B siren Maysa (of Incognito fame) is featured on two tracks, the uptempo and slightly arhythmic “Hold On”, and “Master of My Heart” which may be the best track on this talent filled and quality stacked CD. To make it even better jazz superstar Najee adds his signature sax sound to the upbeat and rhythmic “I See You”. Johnson’s cover of Michael Jackson’s “This Place Hotel” is the first single off of the CD. The CD opener, “Chillaxin”, is probably targeted as the ‘hit’ and will no doubt wow Johnson’s loyal fans and earn Johnson yet another appearance on the Billboard charts. This is definitely a keeper! |
