Lisa Manor – Timeless

Who is Lisa Lauren Manor? Silky-sounding chanteuse? Soulful songbird? Passionate jazz singer? You may not know who she is (yet), but whatever you do don’t confuse her with the ‘other’ Lisa Lauren. Both are female jazz musician / composer / vocalists, but the resemblance stops there. The style and sound and presentation of the two are very different.

Appropriately titled Timeless, Lisa Manor’s debut album is jumping onto the national scene with an impressive cast of big-name musicians that includes Paul Jackson Jr. and Abraham Laboriel. Featuring smooth jazz highlighted by artistic musical touches that include occasional R&B, pop, funk, and Latin elements, the compositional style and musical delivery is somewhere between Anita Baker and Teena Marie. Melodious and heartfelt, this release is filled with with uptempo compositions that ‘stick with you’, showing promise for Lisa Manor’s songwriting future. This release will get a lot of ‘smooth-jazz’ time and a few of the tunes could even cross-over and get some urban or R&B air play.
