Kenny and Leah – You and the Night and the Music

Kenny and Leah
You and the Night and the Music
K&L – 2009

You and the Night and the Music pays homage to the great American jazz standards. With Leah’s sensuous and playful vocals and Kenny’s polished, fluid jazz saxophone listeners will delight with favorites from: Cole Porter’s immortal classic and breezy “Let’s Fall in Love,” Burt Bacharach’s alluring favorite “The Look of Love,” and the easy going romantic touch of “Dancing In the Dark” by the great songwriting team of Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz.

In addition to the title track, “You and the Night and the Music,” the album also includes: Thad Jones’ poignant ballad “A Child is Born,” Michael Frank’s saucy and fun “Popsicle Toes,” “Three Little Words” made famous by Bing Crosby in the Amos ‘n’ Andy film Check and Double Check, one of Billy Holiday’s greatest hits, “God Bless the Child,” Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Calm’s “The Second Time Around,” “Bluesette” a classic jazz waltz written by the great Jean “Toots” Thielemans, “Twilight World” a beautiful Bossa nova by Marian McPartland and “Zing Vent the Strings cf My Heart/The Trolley Song Medley” which Judy Garland immortalized in the film Meet Me In St. Louis.
