The classic ‘Dindi’ (pronounced Gin-Gee) has been around the block a few times, but it has never been smoother. El Debarge delivers the lyrics in his melodic, trademark style, setting the stage for the silky-smooth soprano saxaphone of the late Art Porter. To quote the liner notes, it was “Art’s last recording; and his ability to capture the longing and desire of the lyrics stand as a testament to his talent and sensitivity to the moment“. We agree 100%.

While reviewing this album, we played it from beginning to end each time. When it came time to write this article, the original pick was ‘Dindi’ both because of it’s beauty and the participation of Art Porter. When we played ‘Dindi’ while writing the article, we played it alone and immediately realized that something was missing…the next song on the album.

Immediately following ‘Dindi’ is a rendition of Waters of March featuring Oleta Adams and Al Jarreau on vocals. Dave Grusin, Eric Marienthal, John Beasley, Harvey Mason and Cassio Duarte help Lee Ritenour give this melodic masterpiece a new ‘twist’.

We don’t have an honorable mention category, so this month’s hot single is being shared. Listen and decide for yourself..either way you can’t lose.
