 Performing covers is always a risky business. Sometime the song is so good it almost doesn’t matter how well it is performed, sometime the performance is so masterful that it doesn’t matter what the actual piece was. Sometime it craps out no matter what you do.
Not so here. Start with Chick Corea’s ‘Spain‘, a truly great song, and bring in accoustic-jazz piano master Camilo and Spanish flamenco guitar virtuoso Tomatito to perform and the result is overwhelming! The interplay between piano and guitar is at once seamless and yet multi-threaded. Grabbing you from the first note, Spain carries you on a joyous, rollicking ride. These two have captured the essence of the song and presented it with a style and flair that even Chick himself has to applaud…. Olê!
