Denise Donatelli – What Lies Within

Geoffrey Keezer produced and arranged this wonderful recording that feature the multi-talented woodwind artist Bob Sheppard on saxophone, as well as Marvin “Smitty” Smith on drums, Geoff Keezer on piano and a host of other very talented musicians. Denise Donatelli has a great voice that seduces, soothes and gives you 11 great reasons to keep listening to WHAT LIES WITHIN.

It is a beautiful recording that showcases her multi-octave range and ability to tell the story behind the song in very pretty terms! Opening with “My Shining Hour” Ms. Donatelli comes out swinging. With memorable solos by Peter Sprague on guitar and of course Keezer’s great piano chops this song gives the listener a full on version of Donatelli’s versatility as a singer. However it’s “Crystal Silence” that makes this CD worth adding to your collection. Chick Corea’s instrumental version gets new lyrics that Donatelli’s sings with incomparable artistry.

With such a great back up band and the soloing they do, this CD reaches new heights. Denise Donatelli is an exciting new talent and WHAT LIES WITHIN proves it.
