The Portland Jazz Festival is a celebration of jazz music, Black History Month, and the City of Portland. Throughout the Festival schedule, Friday, February 11 – Sunday, February 20, there will be numerous educational opportunties for individuals. During these programs, instructors and educators will explore jazz and the African American experience with area students, musicians and the public.

Danilo Perez February 11-20 in Portland, Oregon there will be more than 75 live performances and events. The second annual Portland Jazz Festival has grown in number of Dianne Reevesshows, artistic creativity and educational opportunities for the public. Whether you are a jazz aficionado or curious music fan PDX Jazz has something for you!

Within one square mile of downtown Portland, you’ll see 3-time Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist, Dianne Reeves, plus three of the greatest jazz bassists of our time Charlie Haden, Dave Holland, John Patitucci, and the future of jazz, with young and emerging artists; The Bad Plus, Patricia Barber, Danilo Perez, Joe Locke & 4 Walls of Freedom, and Brazilian singer Luciana SouzaPatricia Barber plus the excitement of the North American premiere of Andy Narell & Calypsociation, a 13-piece steel drum orchestra.

Beyond an expanded schedule and more headliners, there will be an after hours jam session with festival artists Friday and Saturday nights for those who don’t hear the bells chime at midnight. There is also a Festival Store, one stop shopping for Festival merchandise including the poster, Rogue Jazz Guy Ale, Pacific Northwest wine, cd’s, jazz books and more. And, the PDX jazzz folks have partnered with Amtrak and KPLU radio in Seattle to commandeer a Jazz Train. For those of you heading down to PDX Jazz, hop on the train, enjoy great giveaways, chats with an on-air personality and the relaxation of knowing you can leave your car at home – all weekend!
